How do I register my child to play?

To register, please use our registration page. GSA handles all registrations through the website due to the number of forms that must be completed. We cannot take registrations over the phone or via mail.

When is opening day?

The start of each season differs depending on the season and age group. Please see the table below for approximate start dates.

How long does the season last?

The Youth season runs for eight weeks, the U-4 season runs for 7 weeks, and the adult league season runs for 10 weeks. If an entire weekend’s games are canceled due to weather or other significant events, we generally will extend the season by another week.

What time do games begin?

The U-5, U-6, U-7, U-8, U-10, U-12, and MS divisions play on Saturdays with several weeknight games. Saturday games may begin as early as 9:00 am. Weeknight games may begin as early as 6:00 pm.

U-4 program sessions will be held on Saturdays and one Monday session.

Middle School Coed games are played on Thursday evenings and Saturdays. Middle School Girls games are played on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. A game schedule will be given to your coach.

High School games are played on Sunday afternoon.

Adult division games are played Sundays at either 1:00 pm or 2:45 pm.

When and where is practice?

The practice schedule is set by the team coach. Teams typically begin practices two to three weeks before their first game. Most teams practice one to three times per week before the season, and one to two times per week during the season.

U-4 does not practice; all sessions occur on Saturdays.

Practices take place at approved parks around Gahanna.

Where are games played?

U-4, Rec Minor (U-5 through U-8), most Rec Major (U-10, U-12, MS, HS), and all adult league games are played at Headley Park, 1031 Challis Springs Dr, Gahanna, OH 43230. Some U-10, U-12, Middle School, and High School divisions may have travel games.

How much are the registration fees?

U-4: $125
U-5–U-12 & HS: $65
MS divisions & Adult League: $75

All players also pay a $20 sports user fee. A $25 per-family volunteer fee is applied each season. Uniform fees are separate.

What is a non-resident fee?

The City of Gahanna charges a $25 per-player fee for non-residents. Use the Address Checker at http://address.gahannasoccer.org/ to verify residency.

Do I need to purchase a uniform?

All youth players except U-4 must purchase a uniform (jersey, shorts, socks). Pricing:
$30 youth jersey, $35 adult jersey
$15 youth shorts, $17 adult shorts
$5 youth socks, $7 adult socks

Uniforms may be reused as long as they fit and are in good condition.

How do I know what team my child is on?

U-4: You will be contacted by a coach or commissioner. Older youth players: Coaches contact players after the preseason meeting.

What is the non-volunteer fee?

A $25 per-family fee is charged unless volunteer requirements are fulfilled. The fee is refunded once completed.

How can I volunteer?

Volunteer opportunities are listed on the GSA website. Coaches and concession help are most needed.

Can my child play with a friend?

Rules:

Must be same division
Only two players involved
Both players must request each other
No coach requests
Coaches cannot request players
Siblings in same age group are automatic ride-shares

What happens if games are cancelled?

What division will my child play in?

Division placement is determined by age on August 1 of the seasonal year.

Can my child play GSA while on a club/school team?

School players cannot play GSA during their school season (per OHSAA rules). Club players may participate, but it is discouraged due to competitive imbalance.

What equipment does my child need?

All players must have shin guards and a uniform (except U-4). Required ball sizes: Size 3: U-4–U-8 Size 4: U-10 & U-12 Size 5: MS, HS, Adult

What is GSA’s refund policy?

Refunds must be requested in writing before registration closes. Afterward, only hardship cases may be approved by the GSA President.

What is GSA’s jewelry policy?

No earrings
No facial piercings
No necklaces
No bracelets
No hard hair accessories

What uniform colors do we wear?

Home team: blue jersey, shorts, socks Away team: gold jersey, blue shorts, gold socks Socks must match.
